Mountains near Grodziszcze: two peaks and a pass in the Owl Mountains, Szeroka, Malinowa and Woliborska. See heights, trails and road notes.

Which peak to choose near Grodziszcze?

Szeroka stands 827 metres above sea level. It has a flattened summit, steeper southern and northern slopes and spruce-beech forest, and two marked trails cross the top, including the Main Sudetes Trail and the E3. It lies within the Owl and Bardo Mountains Landscape Park.

Malinowa is higher: 838.8 metres. It is a dome-shaped hill built of Precambrian paragneiss and migmatite, with spruce forest and some beech. On its north-western slope, at 750 to 800 metres, you will find the gneiss rocks of Wysokie Skałki. The Srebrna Góra Fortress is nearby.

What to know about the Woliborska Pass?

The Woliborska Pass is a dip at 711 metres, narrow and shallowly cut into the gneiss bedrock, between Kobylec and Zległe. By the road there is a car park with a tourist shelter. Regional road no. 384 from Nowa Ruda to Bielawa has many sharp bends here, and in winter it can be dangerous and is often impassable. So in the winter season check conditions before you set off.

All three places are free to visit. A wider overview of the area is on the page attractions in Grodziszcze. Want to go further? See mountains across the region, and nearby Ząbkowice Śląskie, Złoty Stok and Srebrna Góra.
