Historic sites in Jaźwina: a 19th-century palace in Kuchary, traces of a chromite mine on Czernica and the ruin of a Renaissance manor in Stoszów.

Which historic sites in Jaźwina can you see today?

The most complete one is the palace in Kuchary, in a hamlet near Jaźwina in the Łagiewniki municipality. The first mentions of a manor here date from 1830 and 1845, but the present building is younger: it was built in 1870 for Count von Oriola. In the early 20th century it was rebuilt by Günther von Zedlitz und Leipe. The palace comes with a surviving farm complex, which is listed in the register of monuments.

The second site is the former chromite mine on Czernica, on the slope of the Ślęża Massif. It was worked on and off between 1890 and 1943 and produced about 3,500 tonnes. A multi-level adit, a spoil heap and traces of four mining levels remain. A grate closes the adit, so you look at it from outside.

Is the manor in Stoszów open to visitors?

No. The manor in Stoszów is a Renaissance residence founded in the second half of the 16th century by Hans von Strachwitz, who died in 1597. His son Elias extended it, and later owners rebuilt it again. Today it is a ruin in danger of collapse, and nobody can go inside.
