Lwówek Śląski for couples: a stroll around the square with fountains, a brewing museum for a rainy day and a few less obvious spots.

Where can two people walk around Lwówek Śląski?

Start at the market square, laid out in the 13th century where nine streets meet. Fountains stand on it, and two of them have their own pages. The Clothiers' Fountain is the oldest and grandest of three, with a monument to the clothiers and the guild's coat of arms on the plinth. The Owl Fountain by the town hall is the smallest: it has an oval canopy and a sculpture of an owl on top. Both are made of sandstone, so it is easy to compare them while circling the square. The Clothiers' Fountain itself began in the 18th century as a rebuilt town well. The square is a narrowing rectangle of about 200 by 60 metres, so you can walk all the way around it in one stroll.

What to plan when it starts to rain?

Go down to the Lower Silesian Brewing Museum in the cellars of the Lwówek brewery, at Traugutta 7. You will see about 400 exhibits: bottles and closures from around 40 Lower Silesian breweries, tankards, labels and signs. The museum has run since 2010 in a former neo-Renaissance malthouse. You can also look at the production section, which gives you something to talk about for the rest of the day.

Which less obvious places suit a longer walk?

By the former railway station, on Towarowa street, stand the two water towers: a 19th-century brick one and a reinforced concrete one from before 1925. The older one has three storeys, an octagonal plan and a working pump inside. For the curious there is the ancient cult rampart on Skałka hill in Płakowice, an Iron Age archaeological site. A burial ground of the Lusatian culture was found there in 1927. The earthworks are barely visible, so this place suits people who like to dig into a story more than to look at a view.

More ideas for two are in places for couples across the region, and in Lwówek also among the places with character and the architecture. The full plan of the town is on the Lwówek Śląski attractions page.
