Which hill is closest to the centre?

Panek is 455 m high and borders directly on the built-up area, at the foot of the Owl Mountains. It is the fifth highest peak of the Bielawa Hills and one of the easier points to reach in that range. It has no official website or set opening hours, and the hill is open without restrictions.

In the east of town rises Kłobucznik (364 m). It is also called Strażnik or Łysa Góra, and in German times the name Hutberg was used. A concrete observation post stands on top, and the panorama takes in Bielawa and the Owl Mountains. At the foot there is a gneiss quarry and a site of xerothermic plants.

Where to go in the Owl Mountains?

Wilczyna (665 m) is a domed hill with a flat, indistinct top and fairly steep slopes. It is made of Precambrian gneisses and migmatites, and its surface is covered by lower montane spruce forest. It lies in the Owl Mountains Landscape Park, and Bielawa spreads at its eastern foot. Wielka Sowa and Kalenica stand in the same range.

Higher, at 949 m, rises Słoneczna, called Sonnenkoppe in German. It has a domed shape, one gentle slope (south-east), the others fairly steep. Near the summit lie the Sunny Rocks, and the whole hill is part of the Bukowa Kalenica reserve. It sits in the middle of the range, about 2.5 km north-east of the centre of Jugów.
