Mountains in Jedlina-Zdrój mean Borowa, the highest peak of the Wałbrzych Mountains, and several lower hills above the spa. Pick a goal for a day.

Which peak above Jedlina-Zdrój is the highest?

Borowa stands 853.3 m above sea level and is the highest peak of the Black Mountains and the whole Wałbrzych Mountains. The border between Wałbrzych and Jedlina-Zdrój runs across the summit itself, so it is also the highest point of both municipalities. The current name has been used since 1949. Earlier it was called Góra Czarna or Wielka Czarna, and in German Schwarzeberg, because dark spruce forest covers most of the slopes. An observation tower from 2017 stands on top.

Which hills lie closest to the spa?

Closest to the spa is Rzepisko (560 m), which shields the spa quarter from the north. For most walkers it is more green backdrop than destination, but an Aromatic Garden was laid out on its slope facing Jedlina-Zdrój. Next to it, to the north-east, lies Kobiela (about 587 m). In the 1840s a park with gazebos, viewpoints and monuments was created on its top, and remains of that layout can still be found in the forest.

A little higher in the Black Mountains rises Wołowiec (776 m). Beside it stand Mały Wołowiec, also called Mały Kozioł, and Kozioł (774 m), once the German Kauder-Berg. These are low, wooded hills, good for walks without much effort and for linking several summits in one route. Sources give no trail or viewpoint details for Wołowiec and Kozioł, so plan your route on a current hiking map of the Wałbrzych Mountains.

What lies farther from the spa?

Sucha (776 m) sits in the Rybnicki Ridge massif, inside the Wałbrzych Sudetes Landscape Park. It is a steep cone of volcanic rock covered with spruce forest, and below the summit on the south-west side lies the Przełęcz pod Borową pass. Wawrzyniak (668 m) is a dome of volcanic origin with a flattened top, west of Głuszyca. A red hiking trail runs along its eastern slope.

Standing apart, in the neighbouring Owl Mountains, is Stróżowa Góra (648 m), a few kilometres south-east of the centre of Jedlina-Zdrój. It is the lower summit of the Włodarz massif, faintly marked in the terrain, with spruce and beech forest on top and meadows overgrowing on the northern side.

How do you combine the mountains with the rest of the area?

Begin with scenic views in Jedlina-Zdrój or nature in Jedlina-Zdrój. All the town's places are collected on the attractions in Jedlina-Zdrój page. On the other side of the hills wait Głuszyca and Szczawno-Zdrój, and peaks from the whole region are on the mountains in Lower Silesia list.
