Parks and nature in Legnica: the City Park, Lasek Złotoryjski and the North Park. Three green places for a walk, all free to enter.
Which park in Legnica is the oldest and largest?
The City Park covers 58 hectares in the central part of town. It is the oldest and largest park in Legnica, with recreation facilities, traces of former garden layouts and trees more than a century old. The first mentions of this land go back to 1316, and the park owes its present shape to works from 1815 to 1831 following a design by Eduard Petzold. Start here if you have time for a longer walk.
Where is the forest park in Legnica?
Lasek Złotoryjski is a listed forest park of 52 hectares in the south-western part of the city, on the Chojnów Upland. Together with Lasek Pawicki, it is one of the two largest wooded areas within Legnica. Sources give no founding year or history for the park, so do not expect stories from information boards, just compact greenery close to the housing.
What makes the North Park special?
The North Park, formerly Nord Park, lies in the Głogów Suburb, between Głogowska, Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej and Kąpielowa streets. The Czarna Woda stream flows through it. The first small part, about 1.3 hectares, was laid out between 1884 and 1892, and between 1897 and 1900 the park was extended in the English garden style. At its centre you will find an exedra.
