Nowa Wieś solo: Śnieżnik Massif summits and a lookout tower for trips on your own. Which have a trail and which you reach without any marking.
Which target has a marked trail when you hike alone?
Most reliably Wysoczka (1,185 m), crossed by the international blue E3 trail and a yellow connecting trail that meet on the western slope. Near Szeroka Kopa runs the yellow trail from Międzygórze to the Puchacz Pass towards Trójmorski Wierch, and on Trójmorski Wierch itself stands a 25-metre lookout tower. For someone hiking alone a marked trail matters more than height, because it helps with orientation. The tower carries the tag For couples, but it suits a solo trip just as well: it was built in December 2009 and opened on 8 May 2010, and besides its lookout role it serves as a fire tower.
Which peaks suit a longer outing?
Mały Śnieżnik (1,326 m) and Goworek (1,320 m) are the highest of the twin pair next to Śnieżnik. Puchacz (1,175 m) lies on the Polish-Czech border. Jasień (about 936 m) is called Jelení vrch on the Czech side, and Szeroka Kopa (871 m) sits in a side ridge of Śnieżnik between the valleys of the Domaszkowski stream and the Wilczka. For Puchacz, Goworek and Jasień the listings advise checking the route before setting out, because they do not describe trails. Mały Śnieżnik lies inside the nature reserve of the same name and is the second highest peak of the Polish part of the massif, so when going alone it is wise to approach it with a map in hand.
Where can you go without a trail, and where is it better not to risk it?
The sources describe Gawlik (788 m) as a summit with no trail to the top and no mention of a view, so it is a place for people who move outside marked routes. Owcza Góra (760 m) has no marked tourist infrastructure on the summit. Sośnik is a small wooded hill at the edge of the park, also with no marked trail to the top. If you go alone, choose consciously and do not assume you can find the way everywhere without a map.
What to check before going alone?
The exact course of trails and their marking in the Śnieżnik Massif are best verified on the spot, at a tourist information point. Ask there about nature protection rules too, because some summits lie in the Śnieżnik Landscape Park or next to reserves. The listings give no opening hours, trail conditions or reserve rules. It is also wise to tell someone where you are going and to be back before dark falls in the forest. All the places described here carry the free tag.
Solo walks from other parts of the region are gathered under solo places. In Nowa Wieś also see the lists: mountains, beautiful views, nature and free places.
