Mountains near Sobótka: four peaks of the Ślęża Massif, namely Ślęża, Wieżyca, Bartoszek and Gozdnica. Compare heights, trails and views and pick a route.

Which peak near Sobótka to choose?

Ślęża is the tallest peak of the Sudetic Foreland, at 717.5 metres. It belongs to the Crown of Polish Mountains, and its relative height exceeds 500 metres. The massif is built mainly of granite and gabbro. Stone sculptures from an old cult still stand at the summit.

Wieżyca is 415 metres high and has a lookout tower from 1905-1907, known as the Bismarck Tower. You reach it by the yellow trail from Sobótka. The summit is built of amphibolite, and a beech and lime forest with lily of the valley covers the north slope. Bartoszek is 392 metres high and lies between Ślęża and Wieżyca, separated from Wieżyca by the Dębowa Pass. Gozdnica, about 317 metres, once called Angel Hill, is the lowest and the easiest for a shorter walk.

How to put a route together?

The yellow trail links Świdnica, Ślęża, Bartoszek and Wieżyca, and ends in Sobótka. All four peaks carry the free, views, nature and solo tags. Check the approach before you set out, because the terrain is mountainous. After the hills, look at the historic sites of Sobótka or the town page. Similar peaks from the region are gathered in mountains in Lower Silesia.
