Free things to do in Stronie Śląskie: the Śnieżnik tower, peaks, nature reserves and a landscape park. Ideas for a day in the mountains with no tickets.

What can you see in Stronie Śląskie without a ticket?

Almost everything that draws visitors here is open space. Every place on this list carries the Free tag on the portal: an observation tower, peaks, reserves and a landscape park. Before you set out, check the managers’ websites and a current map, because access rules in a park or reserve can change.

The biggest draw is the Śnieżnik observation tower. The steel and glass structure stands on the highest mountain of the Eastern Sudetes, at 1,425 m above sea level. It opened in September 2022 on the site of a stone tower built in 1895-1899 and blown up in 1973. The construction took ten months.

Which peak should you pick for a free walk with a view?

The mountains carry the tags Free, Scenic views, Nature and Solo. Sadzonki (1,230 m) lies right next to Śnieżnik. Stroma (1,167 m) drops into the Kleśnica valley. Czarny Grzbiet (1,087 m) has Mały Śnieżnik close by. Iwinka (1,079 m) and Sierstkowa (974 m) stand on the border ridge, and the European watershed crosses the top of the second one.

The price of having no ticket is doing your own preparation. For Stroma and Sadzonki our sources give no marked trail, so draw the route on a tourist map of the Śnieżnik Massif and leave extra time for the way back.

Where can you go into the forest under protection?

Śnieżnicki Landscape Park covers 288 square kilometres and includes the Śnieżnik Massif and the Golden Mountains. Five reserves lie within its borders, and forests cover about 60 percent of the area. The reserves on the list are free. Puszcza Śnieżnej Białki protects a relict old-growth beech and sycamore forest on 124.68 hectares. Nowa Morawa is 22.16 hectares of old spruce forest with no marked trails, so it is more a point on the map than a hiking goal.

How do you build a cheap day, and what to keep for the rain?

For one day combine the tower with a summit near Śnieżnik, and for another choose the forests of the Białe Mountains: Iwinka and the reserve on its eastern slope, at 980 to 1,000 m above sea level. Neither of those days needs a single entry ticket. When it rains, the free list ends and places with tickets begin, for example the mineral museum described in attractions in Stronie Śląskie.
