Scenic views in Stronie Śląskie: the Śnieżnik tower and Massif peaks. See where to look out over the Eastern Sudetes and the Czech border.

Where around Stronie Śląskie can you see the farthest?

Most reliably from the Śnieżnik observation tower. It stands on the summit of the highest mountain of the Eastern Sudetes, 1,425 metres above sea level. It is a steel structure clad in glass, on a reinforced concrete foundation. It took ten months to build and opened in September 2022. Before that, between 1895 and 1899, a stone tower stood here, blown up in 1973, and a new one had been discussed since the 1980s.

The place carries the tags Free, For couples and Solo, so it suits a walk together as well as a trip on your own. Check the forecast before you climb, because the view depends on visibility, not on height alone.

Which peak to choose when you want views without a tower?

The peaks of the Śnieżnik Massif work as open viewpoints. Sadzonki (1,230 m) lies right next to Śnieżnik, inside the landscape park. Stroma (1,167 m) drops into the Kleśnica valley, so it gives a look down as well as far away. Czarny Grzbiet (1,087 m) has Mały Śnieżnik nearby.

On the border ridge stand Iwinka (1,079 m) and Sierstkowa (974 m). The Polish-Czech border runs over the top of Sierstkowa, together with the European watershed: water flows one way to the Baltic and the other to the Black Sea. It is a spot where you really stand on the line between two basins.

How do you prepare a trip to a viewpoint?

For Stroma and Sadzonki our sources give no marked trail or starting point. For Iwinka they advise checking the trails before you set out. Plan the route on a current tourist map and leave time to come down before dark.
