Free things to do in Kowary are mountains without a ticket. We list them from lower to higher so you can match a goal to your time and fitness.
All five targets on this list share one plus: you do not pay to enter. What differs is height and character, so choose by your own fitness, not by the map.
Where should you start if you have little energy?
With the lowest given height. Góra Parkowa (550 m) lies right above town. It is a cone-shaped summit, and on its southern slope a Romantic-style landscape park was laid out in the early 19th century, of which remains survive. Not far away is Brzeźnik on the northern edge of Kowary: a domed hill with a viewing platform, benches and an information board, a good first picnic stop with a panorama over the area. You can combine both in one day if you do not feel like a long route.
What to pick when you want to go higher?
Sulica is 942 m high and has yellow and green trails. Łysa Góra (946 m) is a modest but quiet summit. At the top of the ranking is Wołowa Góra (1041 m), known as a paragliding launch site. It is a goal for someone with stamina, not for a quick stroll.
How do you prepare a no-ticket outing?
No ticket does not mean no preparation. Check the forecast before you go, take water and a jacket, and choose footwear for the trail. Sulica has two marked trails, yellow and green, and roads with hairpin bends run along its slopes, so it is easy to judge the way back. Wołowa Góra is the main high point of a side ridge leaving the Czoło summit, so treat it more seriously than Góra Parkowa. Łysa Góra and Wołowa Góra both belong to the Kowary Ridge, so plan just one of them for a day and leave the other for the next outing.
