Lubin for couples: a gallery in a historic villa, climbing in a former water tower, a museum and libraries. See where to go as a pair.
What can two people see in Lubin?
A good start is Pałacyk Gallery on the ground floor of a historic villa from the turn of the 20th century, at 6 Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie Street. It has two exhibition rooms with changing shows of painting and other visual arts. Entry is free. The gallery opened on 27 May 2023 during the Night of Museums and is run by the Historical Museum in Lubin. Check which exhibition is on and the opening hours before you set out, because the shows change.
If you want to see more, step into the whole Historical Museum, which has four branches scattered across town: the Town Hall, the Forest Park, by the railway station and Pałacyk itself. A walk between the branches becomes part of the date.
What if you want something active?
Kielich is a former water tower adapted for climbing in 1996. It is 34 metres tall and has seven routes of varied difficulty. At a height of 19 metres the wall bends into a 15-metre overhang that gives it the shape of a chalice, hence the name. Beginners and more experienced climbers find a route in one place, so you can climb together or cheer each other on.
Where to spend a calm evening when it rains?
On a wet day the libraries tagged for couples and rainy days work well. The Czytnik library on Norwida Street lends books, press, audiobooks and CDs, offers internet access and runs reading classes and contests. The Łącznik library is a multimedia department at 24 Odrodzenia Street, with audiobooks and internet stations. You can also choose Branch no. 3 at 17 Żurawia Street or Branch no. 4 on Jastrzębia Street. Borrow something for a shared evening, and ask at the desk about lending rules and opening hours first. More ideas are under entertainment in Lubin and on the town page, and picks from the whole region sit in places for couples.
