Free things to do in Lubawka: a rock reserve and five Raven Mountains summits. A day in the hills without buying a single ticket.
How do you start a day in Lubawka without spending anything?
Start at the Kruczy Kamień nature reserve. It is a rock reserve of inanimate nature in the Stone Mountains, established in 1954. Such reserves are created to keep rock formations made by weathering and erosion unchanged, without economic interference. Keep that in mind: you are looking at rocks, not at living nature. The Stone Mountains are known for many crags and viewpoints scattered over the surrounding summits, so the reserve is a good way to open the day. No ticket is needed, but take care on rock forms and do not go where there is no path.
Which summits should you pick to pay nothing?
All five of the Raven Mountains. Krucza Skała (681 m) gives a view over the Lubawka Gate and the Karkonosze, so it pays off most when you have time for one goal. Sępia Góra lies less than 2.5 km south of the centre, on the western side of the Valley of Love, and has red rocks on its slope. Bógdał (747 m) is higher and more remote. Pustelnia (683 m) reveals an old quarry, and rare plants such as sweet woodruff and oxlip grow in its forest.
Skowrończa (707 m) is for those who want quiet. There are no trails to the summit, and the source describes the hill as not prominent in the terrain, so treat it as a forest walk, not a goal for the trip.
How do you combine this into one day?
Reserve in the morning, Krucza Skała at midday, one of the quieter summits in the afternoon. Two trails run in the area, including the green one from Lubawka to Krzeszów, so you can stretch the walk by a second stage. Take water and good shoes, because this is mountain terrain, and the only tickets you might need are for a cafe on the way. More plans are on the pages for mountains in Lubawka, solo and Lubawka attractions. The regional list is under free attractions.
