Psie Pole attractions in Wrocław: the Rędziński Bridge, Korn Palace, Swedish Redoubt, a fort and play rooms. See what to visit in the north and east.
This page covers the northern and eastern neighbourhoods of Wrocław: Karłowice-Różanka, Psie Pole-Zawidawie, Osobowice-Rędzin, Sołtysowice, Kleczków, Pawłowice, Kowale, Widawa, Lipa Piotrowska and others. It is a very different Wrocław from the centre: bridges, forests, forts and play rooms for families. The monuments of the Market Square are on the Wrocław attractions page.
Where should you begin in the north and east of Wrocław?
Begin with the Rędziński Bridge, then go to the Korn Palace in Pawłowice or to the Osobowice Forest. Those three places show what this part of the city has: engineering, a historic residence and nature. Fill the rest with play rooms, a fort and bridges, and plan your transport in advance, because the neighbourhoods lie far from each other.
The Rędziński Bridge is a cable-stayed road bridge over the Oder, part of the A8 motorway, with the tallest pylon in Poland at 122 metres. The crossing runs over the whole Rędzińska Island, where the historic Rędzin Locks stand. The bridge opened in 2011 and holds several national construction records.
The Korn Palace stands in Pawłowice in a park of 7.2 hectares, built in 1895 as a family residence. It is one of the latest buildings in Wrocław in the northern Renaissance style, with a high mansard roof and dormers. Today it is used by the University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
Which bridges over the Oder and the canals are worth seeing?
The north of Wrocław has many bridges over the Oder, its branches and canals. If you like engineering, plan a walk or a bike ride from bridge to bridge, because each has a different origin and construction. Below are the most interesting groups and single crossings, from the newest to the historic.
The Millennium Bridge from 2004 is a cable-stayed bridge linking Popowice with Osobowice on the inner ring road. The Warsaw Bridges form a group of five crossings: three from before the First World War and two from 2006 to 2008. The Jagiellonian Bridges are four road bridges over the Navigation and Flood canals, two from 1916 to 1917 and two from 1984.
The Bolesław Chrobry Bridges form two pairs of bridges over the Navigation Canal and the Flood Canal: older ones from 1916 to 1917 and newer ones from 2020 to 2023. The Osobowice Bridges, a stone and brick bridge from 1897, are listed as a monument. There are also the Bolesław Krzywousty Bridges over the Widawa, and the Strachocin, Widawa and Polanowice bridges.
Where can you go with children in the north and east of Wrocław?
For families this part of the city has many play rooms, cafes with children's corners and trampoline parks. They are indoors, so they work whatever the weather, and many have a cafe for parents. Before a visit check the rules, age limits and booking options on the place's own page.
GOjump MEGApark Długosza in Karłowice-Różanka has trampolines, an obstacle course and air cushions on 5500 square metres, and a cafe from which you can see the whole hall. On the same Długosza Street works GOkidz!, a play room. In Psie Pole there are Milu Malu on Sycowska Street and the Malinkowo play room with a monkey grove and LEGO Education workshops.
In Sołtysowice you will find Hopsaki, a club cafe with a play room, and in Kleczków Hula Play and the Mango Kids natural play centre with a ball pit. In Swojczyce there are the MiMiSiE sensory play room and Flow&Fun Studio. More places are listed under attractions for children.
Where can you find active entertainment, forests and hills?
For groups of friends there is paintball, shooting ranges and a pool. For walkers there is the Osobowice Forest with hills and an old stronghold site. The Trail Around Wrocław lets you get to know the outskirts on foot or by bike, because it runs through villages near the city and through its peripheral neighbourhoods.
Fort Przygody in Sołtysowice is an extreme entertainment park: paintball on several fields, quad bikes, rafting and field games, aimed at group events. The archery and air gun range in the Osobowice Forest is public, and the COLT range in Kowale has indoor stands. Aquapark Zakrzów on Wilanowska Street is a pool with a sports and wellness area, the second location of the Aquapark Wrocław chain.
The Swedish Redoubt is a dune hill in the Osobowice Forest with the remains of a Lusatian culture stronghold. In Osobowice there is also Chapel Hill, a place of worship of the figure of Our Lady of Osobowice. The Trail Around Wrocław is a yellow walking trail 141 kilometres long, divided into ten sections.
What museums, parks and memorial places are here?
The museums of this part of the city are mostly about military history, visited with a guide and in groups after contacting the organiser. The parks are small and local, and cemeteries should be visited quietly, because they are places of remembrance, not tourist attractions. Details follow below.
Fort Wrocław No. 9 in Lipa Piotrowska is a former defensive fort that houses the Social Military Museum, with an exhibition on the military history of the city and equipment outside. It is visited in organised groups with a guide. The Museum of Engineering and Chemical Forces in Karłowice-Różanka, a branch of the Land Forces Museum, also receives groups only.
Maria Dąbrowska Park in Karłowice-Różanka was laid out on a former cemetery, and Jan Kasprowicz Park has a meadow with a plane tree, a playground and an outdoor gym. The cemetery in Psie Pole, founded in 1996, has the only crematorium in Wrocław. The cemetery in Pawłowice has a chapel and an archaeological site from the 1st to 4th centuries.
