Culture in Jelenia Góra means the Karkonosze Library and its branches: regional collections, reportage and board games.

Where in Jelenia Góra can you spend a quiet afternoon with a book?

At the Karkonosze Library (Książnica Karkonoska) on Bankowa Street, near the Old Town. It is the city and county public library and works as the Jelenia Góra Centre for Regional Information and Education. Besides a general lending room it has a lending room and reading room for regional collections, including the regional bibliography of Lower Silesia. Part of the collection is online in the Jelenia Góra Digital Library, and e-books are available through Legimi. The library organises author meetings, workshops and book discussion clubs.

How do the library branches differ?

Branch no. 3 at 4 Różyckiego Street in Zabobrze is the largest branch of the network. It has an art corner for the youngest, a board game section and classes for schools and kindergartens.

Branch no. 4 has worked since 1976 in Cieplice, at 32 Piastowski Square. A third of its readers are patients of the nearby sanatorium. The branch specialises in reportage, has a reading room with current press and books in German.

Branch no. 8 is at 7 Sygietyńskiego Street and serves residents of that part of the city.

All of these places are indoors and work well on a rainy day. More such ideas are on the page Jelenia Góra in the rain, and the rest of the city is shown in Jelenia Góra attractions.
