Kłodzko for families: a fortress with tunnels, a miniature park, an indoor pool and two places for kids. A day plan for the whole family.
What in Kłodzko will please the whole family at once?
The Kłodzko Fortress is a museum on the hill above town, with bastions to explore above ground and kilometres of underground corridors. Children like mysterious tunnels, and parents get history from the Middle Ages to the 18th century: from wooden defences older than 1114, through a castle, to a modern fortress with countermine tunnels. The second shared stop is Minieuroland: a private miniature park from July 2015, on about 20,000 square metres. In miniature you will see Kłodzko town hall and the Fortress, and from Wrocław the town hall and the water tower at Borek. It has replicas of buildings from Lower Silesia, Europe and North America, a botanical garden and animal zones.
Where can kids burn off energy while adults rest?
The Indoor Pool on Jana Pawła II Street has sports and recreational pools, a fitness centre and a sauna complex. It works whatever the weather and lies a few hundred metres from the Fortress, so it is easy to add to a day plan. After the fortress it is a good way for tired children to calm down while adults use the saunas.
Yellow Park in the Twierdza Kłodzko gallery is a play room with animators, at Noworudzka 2. Parents can shop meanwhile. Senso Gaj on Wiosenna Street runs sensory and developmental classes, workshops and English lessons, and day camps in summer and winter holidays. Both places also host children's birthdays.
How do you build the day?
Combine one outdoor place with one indoors. For changeable weather the other ideas from the For rainy days list will do, and for children alone see For children. When parents want something for themselves, look at architecture in Kłodzko. The whole town is in Kłodzko attractions, and trips with kids from across the region on For families. Further on wait Kudowa-Zdrój and Nowa Ruda.
