Sport and recreation in Wrocław: ice rinks, a roller rink, tennis courts and riding stables with lessons. See where to get moving beyond the gym.
Where can you skate on ice or rollers?
The most versatile spot is the covered roller rink run by WCT Spartan in Nowy Dwór, on Jaksonowicka Street. From April to November it is a roller rink, and in winter it turns into an ice rink. It has a 200-metre speed track and a 600-metre street track, and the street track is free and open to everyone. On site you can rent roller skates, ice skates and protective gear, and join courses for children and adults.
The brand's second address is the Spiska Training Centre in Anders Park. Under one roof you get an ice rink, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a gym with a sauna, and a fitness and spinning studio. If you prefer a rink at a big sports complex, pick the Tarczyński Arena ice rink at 1 Śląska Avenue. The ice sits on one level of a multi-storey car park, has an oval shape, and takes up to 100 skaters at a time.
Where can you learn to ride a horse in Wrocław?
Most of this list is riding centres, mainly in the western and northern parts of the city. Ranch on the Oder in Maślice offers lessons for beginners and advanced riders, saddle workshops for children, hippotherapy and horse boarding. Nearby, Lotos Stable runs classes for children, holiday workshops and rides along the Oder embankments. The site is also adapted for visitors with disabilities.
In Pracze Odrzańskie and Stabłowice you have several options side by side. The Belfegor stud has a sports club with show jumping, dressage, eventing and long-distance riding sections, and first-timers can start with a lunge lesson. The Adonai club teaches beginners and advanced riders and has programmes for children and teenagers. The Stable under the Apple Trees, next to the railway line, pairs lessons with goats, sheep and dogs on the grounds, but it is set up for lessons, not for sightseeing.
What suits children and a trip out of the centre?
With kids, choose places that run separate classes. Pod Topolami Stable on Gałowska Street offers pony sessions for the youngest, riding camps and trail rides for teenagers, next to a Natura 2000 area. In Leśnica, Leśniczanka Stable hosts children's birthdays, school trips and half-day holiday camps; seven horses live there. In Świniary, HorseCare has a large sand arena where you can train whatever the weather.
Confirm hours, prices and booking rules directly with each centre. For other kinds of activity, see the wider page on sport and recreation across the region.
